Vision

Through development and sustainable growth of a country cannot be accomplished without stepping into advanced technology arenas such as aerospace, IT, biotechnology. Along this line, aerospace technology plays an important role—it can be a powerful driving force of other technologies’ growth.
The main core of the faculty of aerospace engineering was a group of faculties who joined at the faculty of mechanical engineering in 2000. In 2000, the aerospace engineering faculty offered M.Sc. educational programs in four different fields of structure, aerodynamic, propulsion, and flight dynamics & control. Following a short period of time, the space engineering field was also established in our faculty.
In 2005, KNTU, through a joint program with Moscow Aerospace Technology Institute (MATI), has admitted B.Sc. students in aerospace engineering. With respect to the permit issued by the ministry of science, research, and technology, the faculty of aerospace engineering of KNTU, KNTU-AE, was founded in late 2005 as the third aerospace engineering faculty of our country. Moreover, the first groups of B.Sc. students, admitted by the national entrance examination (i.e., Konkor Sarasari), and Ph.D. students, in propulsion and flight dynamics & control, enrolled at our faculty in 2007 and 2010, respectively.
KNTU-AE having a very large-well and luxurious campus, with about 5 acres of land, is recognized as possessing the largest educational space of aerospace faculties in our country. Currently, it encompasses four departments of Aerodynamics & Propulsion, Flight Dynamics & Control, Aerospace Structures, and Space Engineering. These departments now admit students in Graduate, M.Sc. and Ph.D., and Undergraduate, B.Sc., levels. Also, multifarious research centers, laboratories and workshops (Center of Excellence for Design and Simulation of Space Systems; Aerodynamic Laboratory with an equipped Wind Tunnel Test Apparatus; Space Research Laboratory with operational units of HIL, SIL, TT&C, Space System Engineering, and Ground Station; Space System Design Institute, Parallel Processing Laboratory; Aircraft Engine, Body & Systems Workshop; Aircraft Measurement & Instrumentation Workshop; Aircraft Welding & Sheet Metal Forming Workshop; etc.) well serve the faculty of aerospace engineering.
To achieve our objectives, we have adopted modern training and research approaches in our faculty some of which are spell out here. We have designed, codified, and launched a new hands-on procedure for the Bachelor’s Program during which students, in the early part of their studies, are engaged in the practical project (design, production, and test) and become familiar with the applications of their theoretical courses. The first experience of such program belongs to 2012, leading to very successful and fertile results. Furthermore, in our recent plan, we have undertaken the establishment of a remote access network to our research bodies and laboratories, thereby enabling students and professors to have maximum use of and access to the existed facilities without their physical presence in the faculty. The Aerodynamics and Spaces Research Laboratories have been hitherto involved in this plan.
